Dear Friends,
As many of you know, the motion to dismiss our case was denied. Although my attorneys, Larry Mackey and Jason Barclay of Barnes & Thornburg, have petitioned the court for an “Interlocutory Appeal”, a trial date in August has been set. And I am deeply disappointed. This process has been difficult for me and for my family. Frankly, what is most disheartening is the loss of an opportunity to provide sound fiscal and cultural leadership.
Despite the legal matter, I remain upbeat about the future. Much of this has to do with you, my friends, who have poured out an abundance of generosity and blessings, leaving me amazed and humbled. Words simply fail to adequately convey my gratitude for your help as I work to clear my name. Thank you.
Even with a brilliant legal team defending me, only the good Lord knows where this case is headed. I must be prepared to defend myself in a trial.
Friends, many of you have already done a great deal to help me. As difficult as it is to ask you again for help, it is also necessary. We cannot undo what was done in 2007, but we must stand together moving forward. On behalf of my wife, Tami, and our children, I want to thank you again for all the gifts of your friendship. I will always be most grateful for your encouragement and for your prayers.
